Mabel Chambers Anderson, 76 of Mimosa St., Drexel, NC went home to be with her Savior on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at her residence. Born July 24, 1931 in Madison County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Vernie and Ethel Baldridge Chambers. Mabel worked for several industries in Burke County and retired from Carving Craft. For several years, she was a foster parent and was a member of Zion Road Baptist Church where, when able, she taught Sunday School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Jackson Anderson; brothers, Earl, Troy, and John Chambers; and a sister, Inez Jean Akgulian.Surviving are a daughter, Cathy White and her husband, Bernard of Drexel; grandchildren, Jeremy Moody of Drexel and April Meredith and her husband, Brant of Morganton; great grandchildren, Christine, Tyler, and Brooke Bledsoe; a brother, Cline Chambers and his wife, Blanche of Mars Hill, NC; sisters and their husbands, Darlene Hightower and Raymond of Morganton, and Faye Shope and Thurman McFee of Candler, NC.The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at Zion Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Micah Piercy and Mr. Buck Butler officiating. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Monday at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes before the funeral hour.
