Mabel Iris Teague

Mabel Iris Teague, 79, formerly of Morganton, NC passed away Monday, October 24, 2011 while surrounded by her children. Born in Burke County, NC on January 2, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Clinton Leory Teague and Roxie Mae Hamby Teague. Mabel worked in the nursery of Grace Episcopal Church for several years and retired from McCombs Oil Company. She had been a member of Sandy Beach Shag Club, loved to dance, and was an avid reader and animal lover.Mabel is survived by her children, Kim Rochelle Funk and husband, Doug, of Bagley, WI and Richard ?Greg? Kearns of Indianapolis, IN; sisters, Elois Leach, Mary Lee Adams, Linda Crawford and husband George, Brenda Penley and husband Richard; a brother, Johnny Teague and wife, Betty; a grandson, Jason Kearns and wife, Katie; and great-grandchildren, Kaiya and Jackson Kearns.In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by her former husband, Richard W. Kearns.A celebration of Mabel?s life will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, October 29, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Kevin Crawford and the Rev. Bruce Walker officiating.
