Mabel Louise Powell Patton

Mabel Louise Powell Patton, 84, of Morganton, NC, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022.  Born in Burke County, NC on May 14, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Walter Glen Powell and Jessie Irene Moore Powell.  Mabel was a lifelong member of Zion Baptist Church where she played the piano and organ and sang in the choir.  Mabel had a great love for the Lord, her family and her church.  She graduated from Oak Hill High School and Appalachian State Teachers College.  She taught school at Glen Alpine Elementary for many years. Mabel loved traveling, especially with her husband.  She enjoyed gardening and the outdoors.

Mabel is survived by her husband, Bobby Patton; son, Keith Patton (Susan); daughter, Lisa Patton (Charles Holtzclaw); five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Powell (Mary); and Jean Ramsey (Poe).

The funeral will be held at Zion Baptist Church, 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 23, 2022 with the Rev. Keith Rose and Rev. Dr. Ralph May officiating.  Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Baptist Church or to Amorem Hospice.
