Mack E. Epley, 87, of Morganton, NC passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013 following a brief illness. Born in Burke County, NC on September 12, 1926, he was the son of the late Charlie Bill Epley and Emer Norman Epley. Mack was an active member of Rain Hill Wesleyan Church. He was a former employee of the old Morganton Furniture Plant and retired from Wright Table Company. Mack loved to farm, sell potato slips, and visit with people.Mr. Epley is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lois Brown Epley of the home; a son, Donald Epley, Sr. and his wife, Roxanna, of Scottsdale, AZ; a daughter, Margaret E. Yarborough and her husband, Tom, of Hudson, FL; three grandsons; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, William, Johnnie, and Claude Epley of Morganton; and a sister, Eula Stillwell of Morganton.In addition to his parents, Mack was preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha Holland Epley; two sisters, Sadie Piercy and Bessie Holland; and a brother, Paul Clark.The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Rain Hill Wesleyan Church with the rev. Lou Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:30 until 7:30 pm at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the funeral.Memorial contributions may be made to The Rathbun House, c/o Mission Foundation, P.O.
