Maggie Lou Carpenter Roberson

Maggie Lou Carpenter Roberson, 93 of Morganton, NC died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Burke Hospice Palliative Care Center. Born June 8, 1919 in Lincoln County, NC, she was a daughter of the late John William Carpenter and Ada Lou Sain Carpenter Maggie grew up in Lincoln County where she attended Palm Tree Methodist Church and graduated from Union High School. After moving to Morganton, she taught for several years at the Calvary Baptist Church Preschool and was a retired employee of Western Carolina Center. She was a member of the Mimosa Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, served for seven years as a Hospice volunteer, and also volunteered with Burke United Christian Ministries. Maggie was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Tillman Orders; brothers, Clarence S. Carpenter and Howard M. Carpenter; sisters, Lilly Mae Carpenter Leatherman, Lizzie Belle Carpenter Warlick, Lucy Carpenter Johnson, and Lottie Carpenter Shirley.Surviving are her husband, Fred M. Roberson; a son, Eric T. Orders and wife, Debra of Troutman, NC; grandsons, Steve Orders and wife, Nicole, Gage Orders, Chad Bright and wife, Tina, Jeremy Bright and wife, Vicky and Curtis Bright; great grandchildren, Emma and Jack Orders, Jacob, Alex, Eric, Juliana, Aiden, and Ryan Bright; step-children, Marshall C. Roberson and wife, Shirley of Lake Wiley, SC and Kathy Roberson of Tucson, AZ; step-grandchildren, Marshall C. Roberson, II and Tamara Hartman and husband, Shane.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Calvary Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mike Riley officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour before the service. Memorial gifts may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church, 119 N.
