Marcus Key

Marcus Key, 90, of Morganton, NC, died on Thursday, March 14, 2019 after a period of declining health. He was born July 28, 1928 in Coal Valley, AL to the late Walter Lee Key and Lois Myers Key. He was a veteran of the US Army. Marcus retired from Proctor and Gamble after 30 plus years of employment. He was a member and past president of the Mt. Airy Civic Club and the Mt. Airy Town Council in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was also a member and past chairman of the Burke County Democratic Party.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lou Cornelia Loven Key; brothers, Walter Lee Key, Robin S. Key; sister, Rachel Davis.

Marcus is survived by his son, M. Greg Key (Gail Korb) of Annandale, VA; sister, Eunice K. Davis of Birmingham, AL; brother-in-law, Dick Loven of Morganton; sister-in-law, Hulah Loven Story of Lenoir, NC; devoted girlfriend of 20 years, Virginia Coffey of Granite Falls, NC; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 4:00pm until 6:00pm, Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The service will be at 11:00am Monday, March 18, 2019 in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Justin Cunningham officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
