Marcus Scott Kearns, 59, passed away at his home in Morganton on May 21, 2015.
Marcus was an extraordinary and accomplished musician, teacher and composer. His many piano students and fellow musicians would testify to his musical talent and passion. His creativity, intelligence, spirituality, and perhaps most of all, his humor, will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by Melody Hicks Kearns, his best friend and wife of 32 years, his son Benjamin, daughter-in-law Brittany and grandson Jet, daughter Alisha, and son Ezekiel, all of whom he was incredibly proud. Also surviving Marcus is his mother, Anita Fann Marino and four sisters, Kerri Kearns, Beth Grooms, Melissa Egolf, Michelle Marino Marshall with husband Scott Marshall and numerous nieces and nephews.
His family is holding a memorial service in honor of Marcus, upstairs at The Grind Cafe in Morganton at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2015.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family.
