Margaret Ballew Fox

Margaret Ballew Fox, 92, of Morganton died Friday, February 18, 2011 at Oak Grove Nursing Center in Rutherfordton following a period of declining health. Born February 27, 1918 in Catawba County, NC, she was a daughter of the late P. D. Woodward and Anabell Gibson Woodward. Margaret was a member of Zion Baptist Church, and a retired employee of Western Carolina Center where she had worked as a foster grandparent for over 15 years. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed cooking for her family.A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Margaret is survived by a son, Lawrence Lynn Lane and wife, Mary of Rutherfordton; daughters, Ilan Ballew DeVinney of Morganton, Peggy Ballew Flynn of Rutherfordton, and Martha Ann Ballew Anderson and husband, Rob of Rockford, IL; a brother, Bill Woodward of Morganton; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Edward Ballew and her second husband, Johnny William Fox, Jr.; a brother, Odell Woodward; sisters, Violet Gibson and Pauline Poteat; and a granddaughter, Tamara DeVinney.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 20, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Bixler officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday one hour before the service.
