Margaret Franklin Watts, 86, of, Morganton, NC died Saturday, April 2, 2011 at her residence while surrounded by her family. Born in Burke County, NC on June 18, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Milas Franklin and Roseann Smith Franklin. Margaret was am active member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she had many friends. She retired from Shadowline.Margaret is survived by her husband of 67 years, Paul Watts of the home; a son, Joe Watts and wife, Debbie, of Newton, NC; a daughter, Linda Hughes of Drexel, NC; grandchildren, Jonathon Watts, Jordan Watts, Shanda McFarland, Marta Franklin and husband, Eric, and Tara McGarrigan and husband, D.J.; seven great-grandchildren; and brothers, Benny Franklin, Charles Franklin, and Ray Franklin.In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her step-mother, Cora Franklin; brothers, Vulan and Bill Franklin; and a sister, Louise Snipes.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Burt Wilbur and Rev. Dr. John Mason officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family is accepting flowers or memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
