Margaret O. Mauldin

Margaret O. Mauldin, 97, died Wednesday, April 04, 2012. A resident of Burke County since the 1930’s she was born in Staunton, VA on November 15, 1914 and was a daughter of the late Ernest and Ollie Stroop Owens. Mrs. Mauldin was devoted to her family and owned and operated Tommy’s Drive-In alongside her husband, the late Howard Thomas Mauldin, Sr. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Mauldin was preceded in death by her son, Howard Thomas Mauldin, Jr.; her daughter, Sheryl Ann Chapman; brothers, Guy and Bud Owens; and sister, Dorothy Miller.She was a member of Morganton Seventh-Day Adventist Church.Surviving are her grandchildren, Michael Lee England and wife, Andrea, of Morganton and Lesa R. Briggs and husband, Jeff, of Hickory; great-grandchildren, Melissa Reynolds, Ryan Briggs, Laura, Chase, and Matthew England.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Elder Barry Mahorney officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
