Marie Burgess Alwran

Marie Burgess Alwran, 85, of Morganton entered her heavenly home on Thursday, June 21, 2018.  Born in Burke County, NC on March 12, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Otis Perry Burgess and Margaret Owens Burgess.  She was a member of North Morganton Baptist Church.  Marie worked at Shadowline for 5 years, Drexel Heritage for 32 years, and retired from Continental Teves.  She loved to sing gospel music and cook.

Mrs. Alwran is survived by her daughter, Connie Boughman Barnette of Morganton; first husband, Troy Boughman of Yanceyville, NC; many cousins; and cousin, Verna Dean Shuping, who took in her precious companion, Gracie.

In addition to her family, she was preceded in death by her second husband, John Ivey Alwran.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating.  Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
