Marie C. Walters

Marie C. Walters, age 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2019 at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, KY.  She was born on October 18, 1944 in Kansas to the late Eugene “Gene” and Lois (Briggs) Davis.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Carol Wayne Walters; Mother-in-law, Mary Alice Causby Walters; Brother-in-law, Allen Ray Walters; Aunt Katherine Causby Hoke; and her beloved rescue companion, Snoopy. She married Carol Wayne Walters who was the love of her life in September of 1962 and they were married for 42 years.  She was retired from a government position on Fort Knox as a Security Specialist.  Marie loved visiting with family and friends and especially enjoyed going out for meals.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Walters (Darryl) Hertel of Buffalo New York and Deborah Walters Paterson of Kentucky; grandchildren, William Jenkins of Indiana, Mariska (Luke) Hertel of Buffalo New York, Kasey Paterson of New York City and Kodie Hertel of Buffalo New York; great grandchildren, Brendan Jenkins and Marshall Jenkins, both of Indiana; brothers, Eugene (Myrna) Davis of New Mexico and Robert (Shannon) Davis of Texas; Sisters-in-law, Carolyn Walters of North Carolina, Donna (Brian) Pearson of North Carolina and Glenda Walters of North Carolina; cherished Aunt Beatrice Chapman of North Carolina and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family, friends and others whose lives Marie touched are invited to the Sossoman Funeral Home, 1011 S. Sterling Street, Morganton, NC from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, June 6, 2019 to reminisce, grieve, support each other and of course, just chat in celebration of her life spent enriching ours.  Prayer to follow.   A funeral service to be held at Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church at 5370 Denton Chapel Road on Friday, June 7 at 11:00 am with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
