Marie Huffman

Marie Huffman, 76, of Burnsville, NC went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at her residence following a period of declining health. Born in Watauga County, NC on March 30, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Edward Love and Flora South. Marie was a member of Trinity Hill Free Will Baptist Church and always let people know that she loved God and that He loved her. She loved being in the outdoors, including walking in the woods, but especially herb and flower gardening. Marie also loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was a fan of bluegrass and gospel music.A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marie is survived by her husband, Marcus Huffman; sons, Kenneth Presnell of Glen Alpine and Melvin Presnell of Banner Elk; daughters, Wanda Blazer and her husband, Michael, of Burnsville and Linda Lyall and her husband, Randy, of West Jefferson; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren, including a special great-granddaughter, Alexus Yates; brothers, James Love of Deep Gap, Noah Love of Morganton, and David Love of Newland; sisters, Dovie Woodward of Florida and Mary Lee Ward of Sugar Grove, NC; and a number of nephews and nieces.In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by three sons, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a sister.The funeral will be held at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, June 30, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Glen Alpine with Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Alpine Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence, 50 Woodland Hills Dr., Burnsville, NC 28714. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
