Marie West Buff

Marie West Buff, 80, of Messer Rd., Valdese, NC died Friday, November 7, 2008 at Valdese General Hospital following a period of declining health. Born February 10, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Glen and Myrtle Sherrill West. Marie was a member of United Baptist Church. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and loving friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Bynum Buff, Jr.Surviving are her sons, Terry Ray Buff of Morganton and Randy Buff and his wife, Shelia, of Hudson, NC; a daughter, Dianne Garner and her husband, Bill, of Nebo, NC; a niece and nephew that she raised, Retha McDonald of Valdese and Garmon West of the home; brothers, Jack West and his wife, Thelma, Johnny West and his wife, Barbara, Jerry West and his wife, Sherrie, Teddy West, Tommy "Tinker" West and his wife, Brenda, all of Valdese; sisters, Reba Howell and her husband, Dave, of Greenville, SC, Delores Rector, Carolyn Franklin and her husband, Lewis, and Joan Carswell and her husband, Tom, all of Valdese; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 9, 2008 at United Baptist Church with the Reverends Avery Owenby and Barry Camp officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Sunday at the church. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family.
