Marillyn S. McLean

Marillyn S. McLean, 84, of Morganton, NC passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Morganton Long Term Care.  Born January 9, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Ralph Benjamin Stroupe and Eva Beatrice Rhyne Stroupe.

Mrs. McLean was a member of Bethel Baptist Church on Pax Hill Road.  She was a graduate of Wake Forest Nursing School and retired from Broughton Hospital.

Mrs. McLean is survived by her son, John D. McLean and wife, Tracy of Morganton; daughter, Suzanne M. Lyle and husband, Mark of Jonesborough, TN; grandchildren, Samantha Lyle, Amanda McLean, and John Jason McLean; great-grandchildren, Ian Kelly Walsh and Megan LeAnn Walsh; and sister, Kaye S. Walker.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. McLean was preceded in death by her husband, John Harvey McLean; brother, Craig Stroupe; and granddaughter, Solana Lyle.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m., Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The cryptside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC  28690.
