Marilyn Reece Waters

Marilyn Reece Waters, 78, died Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care following a period of declining health. Mrs. Waters was born in Burke County on May 10, 1932 and was a daughter of the late Kelly McKinley and Julia Ann Brendle Reece. She was a faithful member of Zion Memorial United Methodist Church and of the W.M.U. She enjoyed canning the produce from the family garden and was a retired employee of Alba Waldensian.A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, she is survived by her husband, Charles E. Waters of the home; her daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Timothy Jones, of Morganton; grandsons, T. J. Jones and Wesley Jones; a brother, Dairl Reece, of Granite Falls; sisters, Martha Ann Whetstine of Greer, SC, Mozelle Woods of Lenoir, Maxine Franklin, and Mary Elva Bravard both of Rutherford College; a number of nieces and nephews; and a very special sister-in-law, Ella Reece of Drexel, NC.In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by an infant daughter and by a brother, Maynard Reece.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Zion Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverends George Williams and Larry Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence.
