Mark Joseph Garnhum

Mark Joseph Garnhum, 24, of E. Hunt Drive, Nebo, NC, died Monday, August 25, 2008 as the result of an automobile accident. Born in Burke County, NC on January 8, 1984, he was the son of James Francis Garnhum and Vickie Brooks Clontz.Mark was a loving and devoted father and husband who had a passion for preaching the word of the Lord and fishing. He will be missed.In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Kala Scott Garnhum; a daughter, Kassie Garnhum; a son, Kayden Garnhum; all of the home; and a sister, Virginia Smith and husband, Ivy, of Morganton.The funeral will be held at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 27, 2008 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Morris officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 6:15 pm at the funeral home before the service. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday at Patterson Branch Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Burnsville, NC. At other times the family will be at the residence of Danny and Kay Scott, 5355 Rainhill Church Road, Morganton, NC 28655. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sossoman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 2608, Morganton, NC 28680 to help with funeral expenses.
