Mark S. Townsend, 65, of Morganton, NC passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 13, 2024. He was born on October 15, 1959 in Catawba County to the late James Townsend and Merle Bollinger Townsend. Mark was raised in the Baptist faith and worked at Valdese Manufacturing for twenty years. He loved to play golf with his dad and loved his music. Mark also enjoyed to fish and play games with his family. He always made sure his family was taken care of.

Mark is survived by his wife, Carolyn Townsend; children, James Miller and Margaret Kelly (Josh); sisters, Kim Gragg, Robyn Phillips and Lisa Townsend; nephews, Logan Jones; nieces, Kriti and Kyndel; his beloved dog, Gracie.

The family will receive friends from 2-3pm on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 3pm in the church with Rev. Dean Presnell and Rev. Terry Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sossoman Funeral Home to assist with the funeral expenses.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
