Marlene Janet Flood LaValley

Marlene Janet Flood LaValley, 63, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Grace Hospital following a period of declining health. Born January 10, 1948 in Dunklin County, Missouri, she was a daughter of the late Gordie Flood and Mary Frances Hudson Flood. Marlene loved her grandchildren dearly, and her door was always open to family and friends.She is survived by her husband, Robert Kenneth LaValley of the home; children, Robert LaValley, Jr., Shon Lewis LaValley, and JoAnn Lee Waycaster, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Josh, Dustin, and Miranda Waycaster; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Melissa Waycaster; and sisters, Joyce Eckhart, Brenda Flood, and JoAnn Trowbridge.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Ann LaValley; and a sister, Phyllis LaValley.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Freddie Stapleton officiating. Burial will follow in Park Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
