Marlon “Noodie” Garrison, 78, of Morganton passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017. Born in Burke County, NC on December 22, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Welles and Juanita Caldwell Owens. She performed a music show on a radio station in New York City many years ago and retired from Western Carolina Center. Noodie had a gift with words and enjoyed music and writing poetry. She received a Golden Poet award.
Mrs. Garrison is survived by a son, Christopher Garrison of Morganton; sisters, Merle Elaine Owens of Morganton and Andrea Surrat of Cincinnati, OH; and a niece, Tiffany Surrat.
In addition to her parents, Noodie was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Douglas Garrison; and an infant sister, Bettie Jean.
A gathering of friends of Mrs. Garrison will be held at a later date.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family.
