Marsha Brown Murray Pittman, 79, of Morganton, NC, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, September 12, 2024.

Born in Beaufort, SC on July 10, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Gordon Brown Murray and Bertha Faith Wheeler Murray Paschal.

Marsha was an active member of North Morganton United Methodist Church. She was a member of the handbell choir, the New Dimension Sunday School Class, an active member of the church’s women’s group, and was active in the women’s bazaar. Marsha retired from Burke County Public Schools and taught home education and special education. She also taught G.E.D. classes at Western Piedmont Community College, worked as a Burke County educational diagnostician, and worked at Crescent Flower Shop. She was a past president of the Shrinettes and an avid Bridge player. She enjoyed beach music, scrapbooking, and crafts. She loved her children, family, and her dogs.

Marsha is survived by her husband, Eric “Dean” Pittman; children, William Clayton “Clay” Depew and Diana Leigh Depew; grandson, William Gordon Depew; and step-daughters, Traci Pittman Morley and Cameron Pittman Fitzgerald (Mike).

In addition to her parents, Marsha was preceded in death by a sister, Faith Wheeler Murray Propst.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at North Morganton United Methodist Church. The memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. David Rorie officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
