Marshall Harley “Bud” McGee, Sr.

Marshall Harley “Bud” McGee, Sr., 80, of Morganton, NC died Friday April 15, 2016.  Born in Burke County, NC on March 17, 1936, he was the son of the late Samuel McGee and Jane Leeiler Mull McGee.  Bud was a member of Mull’s Grove Baptist Church.  He was an avid gardener and loved to help anyone he could.

Mr. McGee is survived by his wife, Barbara Piercy McGee of the home; a son, Marshall McGee, Jr. and his wife, Melissa, of Morganton; daughters, Carolyn Silver and her husband, Kenneth, of Nebo, NC, Marsha Westphal of Morganton, Debbie Conner and her husband, Dewitt, of Union Mills, NC, Brenda Walton of Morganton, and Kala McGee of Morganton; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances Dellinger and Lois Clontz, both of Morganton; and his best friend, Clyde McGalliard.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 p.m., Monday, April 18, 2016 at Mull’s Grove Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at the church at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Bud Jernigan officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  At other times the family will be at the residence.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
