Martha K. Gilbert

Martha K. Gilbert, 71, of Morganton, NC, died Friday, March 8, 2019. She was born on September 1, 1947 in Atlanta, GA to the late Mitchell Lee Bailey and Mattie Lou Howard Morris. She was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church and loved to sing in the choir and worship the Lord. She also loved to draw and paint. She was a woman of many talents and gifts that the Lord blessed her with. She devoted her time to being a caring and loving mother, friend, and grandmother and was excited about meeting her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Lee Gilbert.

She is survived by her children, Tony Kent, Rebecca Gilbert (Bradley Robinson), and Kathy Richards, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Jill, Kayleigh, Cassidy, Katie, Noah and Amelia; brother, Louie Bailey; sisters, Esther Davis and Mara Cain; nieces and nephews, Evan and Sean Bailey, Ben Davis and Stephanie Burnham, Josh and Jill Cain.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 12:30pm, Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Burkemont Baptist Church. The service will follow at 12:30pm in the church with Dr. Luke Lane, Rev. Eddy Bunton, and Dr. Louie Bailey officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Education Sunday School Class, Burkemont Baptist Church, 4668 Burkemont Road, Morganton, NC 28655.
