Mary Adeline Powell Piercy

Mary Adeline Powell Piercy, 76, of Morganton, died on Friday, September 13, 2013. She was born on February 9, 1937 in Burke County to the late Lester Powell and Lacy Shull Powell Long. She was a lifelong member of Glen Alpine United Methodist Church and an active member of the Beth Ada Group in the United Methodist Women. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Lee Piercy; son, Charles Lynn Piercy; brother, Jimmy Powell.Surviving are a son, Dean Lee Piercy of Morganton; granddaughters, Paige Nichole Piercy, Skye Marie Adams, Beverly Ann Piercy and Charlie Piercy; daughter-in-law, Elaine Piercy; great-grandchildren, Parker, Torrin, and Tierany.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Glen Alpine United Methodist Church with the Reverends Barbara Mayo and Mary Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in the Glen Alpine Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
