Mary B. Watson

Mary B. Watson, 89, of Morganton, NC died Monday, April 8, 2013 at Autumn Care of Drexel. Mary was born on September 3, 1923 in Burke County to the late Charlie Edward Brittain and Katie Mae Rudicille Brittain. She was a member of Mount Home Baptist Church. Mary was a homemaker and loved to cook and bake.Mary is survived by a son, Gary W. Watson and his wife, Roxie of Morganton; a special sister-in-law, Ava Brittain; and a number of nieces and nephew.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Morganton Internal Medicine and to Dr. David Abernathy.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Cloyd Watson; brothers, Lee Brittain, Virgil Brittain and Lonnie Brittain; and sisters, Katherine McGee, Rachel Whisnant, Anna Belle Brittain and Thelma Whisnant.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
