Mary Bartles Duckworth

Mary Bartles Duckworth, 96, of Bristol St., Morganton, NC died unexpectedly Friday, April 13, 2007 at Grace Hospital. She was born December 14, 1910 in Rutherford County, NC, and was a daughter of the late Millard Vance Bartles and Sarah Elizabeth Keeter Bartles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Ervin Duckworth; and her son, Millard "M.T." Duckworth. Mary was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. She was one of the first Pink Lady volunteers at Grace Hospital with over 26000 hours of service.

Mary is survived by her daughter-in-law and caregiver, Nancy Duckworth of Morganton; grandchildren, Mark T. and Allison Duckworth of Rockingham, NC, and Lisa Gail Duckworth of Asheville, NC; and a great granddaughter, Emily Duckworth.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 15, 2007 at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Timothy Horldt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday at the church one hour before the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Nancy Duckworth, 1604 Jamestown Rd., Morganton. Memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church Building Fund, 1112 Hopewell Rd., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
