Mary Buckner Forrester Robinson

Mary Buckner Forrester Robinson, 76, of Valdese, NC died Monday, August 3, 2015.  Born in Buncombe County, NC on October 4, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Rev. James Jackson Buckner and Leona Mae Hensley Buckner.  Mary was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church.  She graduated from Hudson High School and of the Banner Elk School of Practical Nursing.  She worked for several years at Caldwell Memorial Hospital, a doctor’s office in Lenoir, Grace Hospital, Foothills Nursing Home, and at Broughton Hospital.

Mrs. Robinson is survived by her step-sons, Kenneth Robinson and his wife, Sylvia, and Tommy Robinson and his wife, Ann, all of Morganton; a step-daughter, Regina Alexander and her husband, Danny, of Valdese; step-grandchildren; brothers, Rev. Clyde J. Buckner and his wife, Gail, of Granite Falls, NC and Sam D. Buckner and his wife, Jan, of Morganton; and a number of nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Garland D. Robinson; and sisters, Martha L. Buckner, Doris V. Lingafeldt, and JoAnne P. Kincaid.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Clyde J. Buckner, Mr. Sam D. Buckner, and the Rev. Ron Cooper officiating.  A private family committal service will follow.
