Mary “Carolyn” Williams

Mary “Carolyn” Williams, 86, of Morganton, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, December 4, 2021, while surrounded by her loving family.

Born in April 20, 1935 in Morganton, she was the daughter of the late Luther Cannon and Annie Louise Williams Cannon.

Carolyn attended Morganton City Schools and graduated from Morganton High School.  She was part owner of Bennett and Williams Oil Company and Flip-In Market.  She also worked for several years with Surety Federal, Great Lakes Carbon, and Valley Rentals.  She was a diligent bookkeeper and could find the last penny on any balance sheet.  She loved the Lord, her family, special friends, and North Morganton United Methodist Church, where she was a lifelong member.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Robert “Bobby” Williams, Jr. (Barbara) and Denise Williams Rust (Dennis); treasured grandchildren, Andrew Williams, Kristen Rust, and David Winters; great-grandchildren, David Winters, Jr. and Madison Winters; brother, John D. Cannon (Linda); and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Robert F. “Bob” Williams, Sr.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at North Morganton United Methodist Church with Rev. Burt Williams officiating.  A private entombment will be held at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Morganton United Methodist Church, 990 Sanford Drive, Morganton, Nc 28655.
