Mary Elizabeth Creswell McGalliard Rymer Franklin

Mary Elizabeth Creswell McGalliard Rymer Franklin, 77, of Morganton went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 3rd, 2012 at the Burke Palliative Care Center. Born in Troy, SC on December 21, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Walter Creswell and Rosa Frances LaFevers Creswell. Mary was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and in 2005 retired from McAlpine Long Term Care.She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Benjamin "Ben" Franklin of the home; sons, James Edward "Eddie" McGalliard and John Christopher "Moe" McGalliard, both of Morganton; a daughter, Terri McGalliard Piercy of Morganton; a step-son, Randy Franklin and wife, Retha, of Morganton; a brother, Red Creswell and wife, Gin, of Morganton; a sister, Iris Demates of Columbia, SC; sisters-in-law, Louise Creswell of Troy and Mary May, Grace McGalliard, and Betty Fleming, all of Morganton; brothers-in-law, Clyde "Jim" McGalliard and wife, Shirley, and John McGalliard, wife, Faye, both of Morganton; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nephews of nieces.In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, James Edward "Bud" McGalliard, her second husband, C. G. Rymer; a brother, Ray Creswell; a son-in-law, Robert "Bobby" Piercy; brothers-in-law, Dayton Anderson, Frank Fleming, Red Johnson, Arvel May, and Joe Demates; and sisters-in-law, Sara Mae Johnson and Louise Anderson.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Raines officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Alpine Cemetery.
