Ella Whisenant, 94, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020 after a period of declining health. She was born January 31, 1926 to the late Summie and Hester Smith Watts. In addition to her parents, Ella was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dewey Bennett Whisenant; sisters, Essie Wilson; brother, Tull Watts; niece, Jean Cotton; great-nephew, Ramon Gallegos; and great-niece, Nicole Stroupe.
Ella is survived by her sister, Ethel Biggerstaff; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with Pastor Phillip Hefner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the JDRF Foundation and to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care.
