Mary G. "Christina" Condit

The Rev. Mary G. "Christina" Condit, member of St. Mary’s Episcopal, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Cristina was a Chaplin at the Western Youth Institution for the past 8 years. She formerly taught Nutrition at Appalachian State University. While a member of the Church of the Holy Cross in Valle Crucis, she answered the call to the ministry. After Seminary, she became Rector at the Church of the Transfiguration, Saluda for 8 years, and then came to St. Stephens, Morganton. She was active in Hispanic Ministry, prison outreach and a volunteer Spanish translator, and on the Committee to Dismantle Racism.Christina was preceded in death by her parents Peggy and Nelson and leaves behind her caring, older brother, Tom.Services will be held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Morganton on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., with a reception following.
