Mary Griffin Bradley

Mary Griffin Bradley, 88 of Morganton went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, April 27, 2013. Mrs. Bradley was born November 27, 1924 in Madison County, NC to the late Nehemiah Griffin and Virginia Buckner Griffin. She was lovingly known as "Granny". Mary was a loving wife of 67 years and devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and cooking for her grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons, James and Harvey Lee Bradley; siblings, Paul Griffin, Osten and Wayne Griffin, Porshia Rice, Daisy Rice, Cora Lee Holland and grandson Daniel Bradley.Mrs. Bradley is survived by her husband, Rev. Joe C. Bradley; children, Mary Jo Blackwell and her husband, Walter of Winston Salem, Rev. J. C. Bradley and his wife, Blaka of Icard, and Deborah Haynes and her husband, Gary of Morganton; siblings, James Griffin and wife, Kay of Marshall, NC, Martha Rinehart and husband, Robert of Black Mountain and Nehemiah Griffin, Jr. of Marshall, NC; seventeen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews and extended family.Funeral services for Mrs. Bradley will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. J. C. Bradley and Rev. Charley Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View #1 Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
