Mary H. Avery

Mary H. Avery, 92, of Morganton, NC died Friday, December 20, 2013. Born in Guilford County, NC on July 25, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Jeffrey J. Harper and Winnah Burroughs Harper.Mary is survived by son, Gary R. Garner and wife, Brenda of Morganton; grandson, Chris Garner and wife, Rebecca of Morganton; and great grandchildren, Hannah Grace Garner and Anabel Ellen Garner; step-children, Carlton Avery Trujillo and husband, Bob of Morganton, Waightstill Avery, Jr. and wife, Carol of Atlanta and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by Gary’s father, Raymond H. Garner, her second husband, Ben Williams and her third husband, Waightstill Avery and six brothers.Entombment services will be held at 2:00 p.m., today, December 22, 2013 at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Kevin Crawford officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658 or to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
