Mary Huffman Banner, 91, of Morganton, NC, died Saturday, July 27, 2024.

Born in Burke County, NC n July 4, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. Huffman and Lizzie Ledbetter Huffman.

Mrs. Banner was a member of North Morganton Baptist Church where she was active in the choir. She used to make wedding cakes and loved to cook, read, and do crafts. She worked at Banner and Rector Furniture Company.

Mary is survived by her husband, Lawrence Banner; son, Eddie Banner (Donna); Lavonda Lingerfelt (Michael); grandchildren, Chad Smith (Victoria), Jason Banner, Ashley Penley (Richard), Cierra Stamey (Jim), and Brooke Norman; great-grandchildren, Alexis Campbell (Tyler), Laiken Baker (Colby), Katlin Wolfe, Austin Wolfe, Nick Banner, and Madison Banner; and great-great-grandchildren, Addie Campbell, Jensen Basnett, and Jayden Banner.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by sisters, Virginia Whisnant and Nanny Coleman; and brothers, Bob Huffman and Gene Huffman.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Ashley, i am saddened to hear of the passing of your grandmother. She was a great person and i know the family will really miss her.
