Mrs. Mary Lou Pruitt, 93, of Morganton, NC passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 after a brief illness. Born December 28, 1922 in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Garmon Dale and Lillie Mae Cook Dale. Mrs. Pruitt was a retired employee of Morganton/Premier Hosiery Company where she worked for fifty-three years. She attended Amherst Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pruitt was preceded in death by her husband, James Melvin Pruitt; step-daughter, Helen Naomi Smith; brothers, Forest, Clarence, Fred, and Paul Dale; and sisters, Mozell Dale, Maxine Ferguson, and Betty Jean Monroe.
Mrs. Pruitt is survived by her daughter, Mary Frances Parton and husband, Harley of Morganton; sister, Sue McCabe of Winston Salem; brother, Vernon Dale and wife, Carolyn of Asheville; step-grandchildren, James Lee, Todd, Pam, and Janet and their families; and her “other daughter”, Lynn Franklin. She is also survived by her grand dogs, Corky and Darby; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Dolly Bradshaw.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Joplin officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
