Mary Owensby Kessel

Mary Owensby Kessel, 66, of Morganton went to her Heavenly Home on Sunday, July 1, 2012 after an extended illness. Born in McDowell County, NC on June 1, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Jonas Owensby and Faye Webb Owensby.A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her husband, Marvin "JR" Kessel of the home; sons, Dion Monn and wife, Shasta, and Randy Monn and wife, Daphne, both of Morganton; grandchildren, Josh Rose, Kelsi Monn, Devest Hull, and Selena Monn; brothers, Jerry and Mike Owensby, both of Marion; sisters, Ann Hollifield, Donna Mace, and Kathy Hovis, all of Marion; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Scotty W. Monn, and a sister, Janie Roper.The funeral will be held at noon, Friday, July 6, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Vernadean Starks officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
