Mary Pauline Hoyle Cherry

Mary Pauline Hoyle Cherry, 81, formerly of Rora Avenue SW, Valdese, NC went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 14, 2009 after an extended illness. Born in Burke County, NC on March 21, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Burley Hoyle and Mary Jane Branch Hoyle. A very devoted Christian, she attended several local Baptist churches in the Valdese area until her health began to fail. She was a retired employee of Burke Mills.Mary is survived by her children, Betty Shoupe of Morganton, NC, Sandra Lowman and husband, Jimmy, of Valdese, and J. B. Cherry of Morganton; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a special friend of the family, Charles Roberson.In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Leroy Cherry; brothers, Dan, Jake, Fred, Hamp, and Donald Hoyle; and sister, Mattie, Lucille, Ursula Gibson, and Grace Farris.The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2009 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Deal officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Alpine Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the home of her daughter, Sandra Lowman, in Valdese.
