Mary Wilson Leonhardt, 87, of Morganton, NC passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017. Born in Burke County, NC on August 20, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Edward Lee Wilson and Fannie Williams Wilson. Mary loved little dogs, chocolate candy, and Carolina Basketball.
Mrs. Leonhardt is survived by a daughter, Beverly Smith and husband, Ward, of Jasper, GA; sons, Gary Leonhardt and wife, Susie, David Leonhardt and wife, Anne, and Jeff Leonhardt, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Collier Smith, Carrie Whitaker, Chris Leonhardt, Scott Kent, and S. J. Gutierrez; great-grandchildren, Kaidance Leonhardt, Cara Smith, Jack Kent, and Emily Kent; a brother, Howard Wilson; and sisters-in-law, Nina Carpenter and husband, Rex, and Geneva Wilson.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Henry Leonhardt, Jr.; a sister, Wilma Wright; and brothers, Johnny, Carl, Earl, Vernon, Kenneth, and Clarence Wilson.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3pm, Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be held at 3pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
