Maudie Duckworth Cline

Maudie Duckworth Cline, 97, of Morganton died Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Grace Hospital following a period of declining health. Born July 30, 1914 in Burke County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Jerome Kenneth Duckworth and Ora Alice Rockett Duckworth. Maudie was the oldest member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church. She loved to landscape her yard with shrubbery and flowers. Maudie was a former employee of the Rainbow Grill, and later worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Ralph Falls. She was a devoted wife and mother.Maudie is survived by sons, C. Wayne Cline and wife, Carolyn of Morganton, and Alan D. Cline of Newton, NC; grandchildren, Devin William Cline and Hannah Olivia Cline; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Betty Bailey.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil G. Cline; brothers, Oscar Lee, James Kenneth, Orville Wilbur, Floyd Melville, Wilson Woodrow, and Richard Watkins Duckworth; and sisters, Wecie Geneva D. Harris, Bonnie Louise D. Epley, and Callie Mae D. Mull.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 5, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Heather S. Kilbourne officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday one hour before the funeral service.
