Melanie Irene Cox

Melanie Irene Cox, 48, of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly and surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. She was born in McDowell County, NC on September 6, 1968 and was the daughter of Linda Chapman Reep and the late Arthur Dean Cox. Melanie was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially her grandbabies. Melanie had a passion for reading and music.
In addition to her mother she is survived by a special friend, Mark West; her children, Aaron Chapman Cox and wife, Vickie and Tyler Chase Tallent and wife, Hollie; grandchildren, Ryan Tallent and James Tallent; brother, Robert Dean Cox and wife, Jean; nephews, Robert Allen Cox and Joshua Cox; and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Pastor John “Pete” McCombs officiating. Burial will follow at Victory Temple Full Gospel Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Victory Temple Full Gospel Church, PO Box 1209, Nebo, NC 28761. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
