Melissa Ellen Jernigan

Melissa Ellen Jernigan, 87, of Magnolia Dr., Morganton, NC died Monday, March 17, 2008 at Britthaven following a period of declining health. She was born May 1, 1920 in Burke County, NC, and was a daughter of the late George S. McSkimmis and Cora Lee Whisenant McSkimmis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Martin Jernigan, one brother; and three sisters. Melissa was a member of Southside Baptist Church.She is survived by her guardian and friend of the family, Leola Buchanan of Jonas Ridge, NC.Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 21, 2008 at Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev. Clyde Buckner officiating. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
