Melvin C. Shuffler, 62, of Bethel Rd., Morganton, NC passed away Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, NC following a period of declining health. Born in Burke County on October 2, 1943, he was a son of the late Claude Christopher and Purvy Irene Mull Shuffler. Melvin was a retired employee of Drexel-Heritage Furnishings where he had worked for forty years. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing and playing pool. He was dearly loved by his family and host of friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva Fleming Williams and a brother-in-law, Thomas B. Allen, II.
Surviving are sons, Jeremy Shuffler and his wife, Samantha of Morganton and Steven Mathew Shuffler and his wife, Jessica of Granite Falls, NC; a step-grandson, Dalton; brothers, Eugene Shuffler and Dewey Shuffler and his wife, Patsy all of Morganton; and a sister, Pansy Fleming Allen of Charlotte.
The family will receive friends at Sossoman Funeral Home on Monday, January 16, 2006 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. A cryptside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. Allen King officiating.
