Michael David Whisnant

Michael David Whisnant, 42 of Valdese, NC died Sunday, February 19, 2017. He was born in Burke County, NC on August 8, 1974 and was the son of Virginia Ann Justus Whisnant of Valdese and the late Steven Alan Whisnant. Michael was a graduate of East Burke High School. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by grandparents, Wallace Justus, and Ned and Mary Whisnant; uncle, Larry Justus; and aunt, Joyce Whisnant.
In addition to his mother he is survived by sister, Jennifer Whisnant; grandmother, Margaret Justus all of Valdese; uncles, Philip Whisnant and Wayne Justus and wife, Helen all of Morganton; aunts, Linda Justus of Valdese and Evelyn Dean of Roanoke, VA; step-mother, Pat Whisnant; step-brother, Nick Whisnant both of Lebanon, TN; and a number of cousins.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Micah Piercy officiating. At other times the family will be at the residence in Valdese.
