Michael John "Mike" Zimmer

Michael John "Mike" Zimmer, 71, of Morganton, NC died Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Burke Palliative Care Center. Born in Pontiac, MI on January 8, 1942, he was the son of the late Edgar Albert Zimmer and Helen McCloud Zimmer. Mike was a member of the Indiana National Guard and was of Catholic faith.Mr. Zimmer is survived by his wife, Joyce Faye Rowen Zimmer of the home; children, Gayla Jean Moua and her husband, Savang, Ginger Snook and her husband, Rick, Janine Gibson and her husband, Dwayne, and Ron Zimmer; grandchildren, Derek Burleson, Pam Burleson, Michael Zimmer, Ross Gibson, Jasmine Gibson, Heather Snook, and Bailey Zimmer; and four great-grandchildren, Katherine Buskirk, Mason Burleson, Holly Burleson, and Kristin Buskirk.

Services will be held at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
