Michael Leland Bennett

Michael Leland Bennett, 68, of Morganton joined his parents with the Lord on Wednesday, November 6, 2019.  Born in Burke County, NC on May 9, 1951, he was the son of the late Carl Johnson Bennett and Melba Elizabeth Wilson Bennett.  He was a loving husband, father, pawpaw, brother, and friend to many.  He owned and operated Bennett Builders for over 28 years.  Michael was a friend to all and never met a stranger.

Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife, Shari A. Bennett; sons, Glen W. Chase and wife, Angie, and Matthew I. Bennett; daughter, Heather Bennett; grandchildren, Zalie Chase, Corbin Chase, Gauge Michael Bennett, Victoria McCall, Myranda Bennett, Madison Bennett, and Bradley Bennett; four great-grandchildren; brother, John Bennett and wife, Joan; sister, Carolyn Norman and husband, Ronnie; and nieces, Lindsey, Emily, and Carrie.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, November 11, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690 in honor of Michael’s parents.
