Michael Thorne

Michael Thorne 3/26/1942 – 2/08/2022

Michael was born in Brockton MA and was brought up in Randolph and Roslindale

MA. He graduated Hyde Park High School in Boston.  He served in the Army and was honorably discharged in August 1968.

He was a member of both the Eagles, and the Knights of Columbus as well as the Elks. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Rockland Golf Club in Rockland MA for many years.

Michael is survived by his wife Jean and numerous family members in Massachusetts. He retired to the foothills of North Carolina in the Spring of 2006 to relax, play golf and live with nature. He was in charge of keeping numerous nectar feeders filled for the large group of ruby throated humming birds who grace this area. He got excited by the local deer (especially the majestic bucks) and the big black bear that occasionally comes to his front porch.  He liked to cook and was famous for his meatloaf. He was liked by all who met him and will missed.

He was a member of Eagles and knights of Columbus. He served in Army in Korea. Brought up in Randolph and Roslindale. Graduated from Hyde Park high school. Brown belt in judo. Avid golfer and member of Rockland golf course for many years.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
