Mickey Roy Smith

Mickey Roy Smith, 50, of 1141 Pine Dr., Morganton, NC died Saturday, February 24, 2007, at McDowell Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born on October 18, 1956 in Morganton, NC and was a son of Roy Lynn Smith, step-mother, Linda Smith, and mother, Wilma Penley Smith all of Morganton. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard Layman Penley and Charlie and Mary Smith. Mickey was a loving father, son, brother, uncle and grandpaw, but most of all he was a loving friend. He was always doing something for someone to show how much he loved them, and never wanted anything in return. We love you Daddy.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his daughters, Amy Michelle Smith of Valdese and Misty Dawn Smith and friend, Ritchie Garland, of Morganton; sisters, Kathy Lynn Smith and friend, Frank Cooper, and Teresa Diane Smith, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Diamond Michelle Smith and Noah Aidan Smith; his grandmother, Florence Leona Penley of Hickory; and his nieces, Natasha Danielle Moore and Briana Nicole Moore, both of Morganton.

The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2007 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Rice officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of Kathy Smith and Frank Cooper, 123 Starmount Cir., Morganton.
