Miguel Diego Mendez

Miguel Diego Mendez, 33, of Latta, SC died Saturday, November 15, 2014. Born June 12, 1981 in Guatemala, he was a son of Pascual Miguel Diego-Matias and Juana Mendez De-Diego. Miguel joined the US Army in 1999 achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his fifteen years of service to his county, Miguel served four tours of duty in Kosevo and Afghanistan. He was proud to be an American soldier. He was a devoted and loving father to his children.
In addition to his parents, Miguel is survived by children, Miguel Luis Diego Mendez, Ezequiel Diego Mendez, and Isabella Grace Mendez; brothers, Carlos Mendez, Domingo Diego Mendez, and Luis Angel Diego; a sister, Yesenia Gonzalez; and aunts, Tereza Torres and Carmen Iniguez.
A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2014 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Father Kenneth Whittington. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 22 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 23 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m at the funeral home where the body will remain until placed in the church.
