Mikki Thomas Baker, 53, of Morganton was called to be with the Lord on Monday, July 25, 2016 after a 13 year battle with cancer. Born in Cleveland County on September 6, 1962, she was the daughter of John Madison Thomas, Jr. and Glenice Keenum Thomas.
Mikki was a graduate of Freedom High School in 1980 and of WPCC Nursing Program in 1984 and was an RN and worked at Catawba Memorial Hospital and Hospice. She was a loving wife and mother. Mikki was also a member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mikki is survived by her husband, Jeff Baker; daughters, Hallie Best and husband, Thomas, Samantha Baker, and Katie Baker; grandchildren, Harper and Emmalyn Best; brother, John Thomas III and wife Julie of TN; sister, Jan Cheves of Swannanoa; nephews, Chip Thomas and Carter Cheves III; nieces, Lee, Sarah, and Rachel Thomas and Emily Cheves; and three great nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law Linda Thomas of Rutherfordton.
Mikki was preceded in death by brothers, Roger and Gerald Thomas; brother-in-law, Carter Cheves, Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Sandra Thomas.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 PM, Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be held at 3 PM, Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Catawba Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Rocky Branch officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
