Mildred Ann Branch Duckworth, 84, of Morganton, NC died Friday, June 20, 2014. Born in Burke County, NC on July 9, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Joseph James Jordan and Etta Mae Lane Jordan. Mildred was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and enjoyed her flower gardens.
Mildred is survived by her children, Tommy Richard Branch and his wife, Patricia, Carolyn Ann Walker, and Susan Elaine Simpson, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Lisa Bolick and her husband, Bobby, Debbie Giannini and her husband, Nick, Jennifer Branch, and Christopher Simpson and his wife, Amanda; great-grandchildren, Kailigh Lowman, Destanie Walker, Haley Walker, Stephen Bolick, Brittany Bolick, Alison Simpson, Miranda Simpson, Becca Giannini, and Tre Giannini; and one great-great-grandson, Braxton Hoare.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Eli Branch; her second husband, Avery L. Duckworth; brothers, James, Melvin, Russell, and Harold Jordan; and three sisters, Grace Carswell, Mary Lou Mayfield, and Eva Jordan.
The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, June 23, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with the Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until noon prior to the service.
